Upgrade your reading, writing, numeracy, and computer skills. These courses are designed for students with a disability who wish to establish and/or upgrade prevocational skills that would enhance entry into further education or employment.

Program Description

All VCC courses take into account the specific needs of the individual and the benefits of group work and peer instruction. Audiovisual materials are used extensively. Students are also involved in role-plays, demonstrations, group discussion and field trips.

VCC offers a variety of part-time courses over a nine-month period, including:

  • Reading and writing for everyday use (five hours per week)
  • Computer applications (10 hours per week)
  • Managing your money (five hours per week)

VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

As Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to educating adult learners, applicants should be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.

Please note that you must submit official transcripts and educational documents to support your application; unfortunately, we cannot accept photocopies or fax versions.

VCC’s Community and Career Education (CACE) Department offers adult special education programs and courses for students with disabilities.

Areas of study include career awareness and exploration, food service careers, retail and hospitality, computer applications, literacy, and numeracy.
