Happy Lunar New Year from VCC

Happy lunar new year text with a dragon

A message from VCC president, Ajay Patel

Dear VCC community,

This Saturday, February 10, many members of the VCC community will celebrate the Lunar New Year. May the Year of the Wood Dragon bring forth abundant joy, prosperity, and success into our lives.

As the only mythical creature in the Chinese zodiac, the dragon is highly revered and symbolizes strength, resilience, and courage. Just as the dragon soars to new heights, may our community continue to reach unprecedented achievements and create a legacy that lasts for generations to come.

I encourage each of you to take a moment during this Lunar New Year to connect with friends, family, and colleagues, and to appreciate the strength that comes from our diverse community.

On that note, VCC is proud to host Lunar New Year celebrations Monday, February 12, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Downtown campus and Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Broadway campus. Hosted by Students’ Union of VCC and the International Education department, I invite everyone to take this opportunity to learn more about the rich culture and heritage of Asian communities and their significant contributions to our society. There will be food, refreshments, and a traditional Chinese lion dance. I hope to see many of you there!

On behalf of the VCC Board of Directors and leadership team, I wish our students, employees and all those of Asian heritage in our college community a happy, healthy, and prosperous Lunar New Year!
