VCC serves DTES community with Christmas in January

Christmas in January event - news header

The holiday season may be over, but on Saturday, January 23, Vancouver Community College (VCC) and the Salvation Army gave a gift to their neighbours in the Downtown Eastside – a Christmas lunch with all the fixings. Food was prepared by VCC's culinary arts chef instructors and students with all of the products donated by Sysco Vancouver.

Over 70 volunteers came out to help, including 40 VCC students working inside The Salvation Army Harbour Light kitchen. With 60 turkeys cooked for the event, over 1000 people from the community were able to enjoy a warm post-poliday meal.
