Human Rights
Ensuring a positive campus experience.
As a member of the VCC community, each of us has the responsibility to respect the rights of others. Every member of the college community has the right to study and work in a supportive environment free from discrimination and harassment. Everyone at VCC can expect to be treated with respect and fairness.
As a matter of college policy, any demonstration of hatred and prejudice is not tolerated at VCC and the college deals with any form of harassment very seriously.
To assist members of the college community, VCC has a human rights coordinator available to help both students and employees who have questions or concerns about harassment and discrimination. Without taking sides or making a judgment about the concerns, the human rights coordinator will provide a confidential assessment of a situation and discuss options for resolution. The coordinator is qualified to provide support, coaching, assistance in conflict resolution and mediation services. The human rights coordinator maintains confidentiality during any complaint process, unless consent is given to disclose information, there is a safety concern or where the law requires disclosure.
The human rights coordinator also provides human rights and harassment prevention education to the college community.
More information on fostering a positive campus environment and human rights at VCC is available on the Human Rights website.
