This accelerated course is designed for practicing interpreters to acquire the techniques of simultaneous interpreting to be used in a court setting. Participants will practice simultaneous interpreting using active listening, comprehension, memory, note-taking, paraphrasing, shadowing and dual tasking skills. The course provides opportunity to work with court discourses of various nature, content and style. These include information, indictments, witness testimonials, show cause hearings, and judge’s addresses to the jury. Participants will gain strategies and self-evaluation skills which they can use for further practice of simultaneous interpreting.
