Early Childhood Care and Education Assistant

Experience VCC Join us at Experience VCC on October 24 for an evening of free workshops, entertainment, and prizes.

This course includes the basic information on health, safety and proper nutrition for young children (2-5 years of age). The course introduces the student to the basic licensing regulations, safety and hygiene measure related to child care facilities. Gives the basic knowledge on child development and the important tips needed for an Early Childhood Care and Education Assistant job. The content is equivalent to Healthy, Safety and Nutrition (ECCE 2115). Students who apply for the Early Childhood Care and Education Certificate Program will receive credit for this course once completed. This course is accepted by the ECE Registry for the first time ECCE Assistant applications only. For the ECCE Assistant renewal it is required to complete one of the courses in the Early Childhood Education Certificate Program.

Early Childhood Care and Education Certificate (ECCE) prepares graduates to work in licensed preschools and childcare centres. This Continuing Studies program offers students the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality service for children ages three to five years old.

This course is specifically designed to meet the needs of those people wishing to obtain an Early Childhood Educator Assistant License. Please note that this course does not count for the renewal for your ECE Assistant License to Practice.

Gain basic knowledge and skills in this Health, Safety and Nutrition course to establish and maintain healthy and safe environments for young children. Topics include prevention, universal precautions, and working in partnership with families and community resources. (36 hours)
