Mathematics - Academic Upgrading - Self-Paced


Experience VCC Join us at Experience VCC on October 24 for an evening of free workshops, entertainment, and prizes.

Upgrade your mathematics skills to prepare yourself for today’s job market and for higher learning.

You will develop critical-thinking skills through solving application problems in algebra, trigonometry, technical mathematics and business and consumer mathematics. These courses can be used as prerequisites for VCC career and University Transfer programs as well as programs at other colleges and universities.

Self-paced classes include equivalents to Pre-Calculus 10, 11 and 12, Business and Technical Math 10 and 11, Math skills courses, and Math for VCC’s Practical Nursing and Pharmacy Tech programs.

This program is tuition-free, however other fees (e.g. application fee, U-Pass fee) are still charged.
For assistance with these costs, ask VCC Financial Aid about the non-repayable Adult Upgrading Grant.

General

VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

As Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to educating adult learners, applicants should be 16 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.

Please note that you must submit official transcripts and educational documents to support your application; unfortunately, we cannot accept photocopies or fax versions.


Program Specific

Missing prerequisites? VCC offers courses in Adult Upgrading and English as an Additional Language to help you meet your goals.
(CLOB)
  • Students should be 18 years of age or older, or out of the public school system for at least one year.
  • College assessments in reading, writing and mathematics may be required.
  • All students must see an advisor for course placement and permission to register
  • ESL students wishing to register in self-paced:
    • Mathematics must have completed Upper Intermediate English or higher
    • Physics must have completed Upper Advanced English or higher
    • Biology must have completed English 059 or higher, and
    • General Science must have completed Upper Advanced English or higher.

VCC offers a range of academic courses for adults designed to meet individual goals. Attend an information session to learn about our math, science, computer and English courses, meet our teachers, ask questions and learn how to apply.

Join us at VCC's Broadway campus, 1120 East 7 Avenue at Glen Drive, across from VCC/Clark SkyTrain station.

Adult Upgrading Grants are available to cover tuition for qualified students in 2015-16. Ask us more at an information session or contact VCC Financial Aid to find out if you qualify.
