Communications & Culture (TESO 1232)

In this course, students will  continue the exploration of the theory and best practice instructional methodology used to teach pronunciation. Students will also focus on the development of advanced communication skills. Attention is paid to cross-cultural issues and socio-cultural differences in the  language classroom, and speech awareness  in terms of fluency, delivery and elements of clarity.

Students in this course will experience an interactive and student-centred learning environment. In addition to completing independent learning tasks, students in this course will teach and present to the class as well as evaluate both the teaching and presentations of their peers. Throughout the course students are encouraged to self-reflect on their language teaching practice.


 Prerequisite: TESO 1127 Teaching Pronunciation or TESO 1108 Pronunciation
