These courses are designed for students who wish to prepare for study in Canadian colleges, universities or other post-secondary institutions. Full-time and part-time courses are offered weekdays in the morning, afternoon and evenings, as well as Saturdays.

Program Description
1. COMPREHENSIVE FULL-TIME COURSES
- English 059 (Writing 0765, Reading 0766, Oral Skills 0767)
- English 098 (Writing 0885, Reading 0886, Oral Skills 0882)
- English 099 (Writing 0995, Reading 0996, Oral Skills 0992)
2. PART-TIME COURSES
Writing, Reading and Oral Skills can be taken separately. One or two courses can be taken each semester.
3. UNIVERSITY TRANSFER CREDIT COURSES
First year university English courses (ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102) are combined with Integrated Language Support courses (ENGL 1001 and ENGL 1002) to help second language learners succeed at this level. ENGL 1101 and 1102 are each assigned 3.0 credits and are transferable to all degree granting post-secondary institutions in BC.
4. NON-CREDIT COURSES
TOEFL Skills, Pronunciation & Communication Skills, and Grammar and Meaning run at various times of the year.

Admission Requirements
General
VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.
Exceptions

Convention refugees as designated by the federal government; Foreign live-in caregivers; Individuals with work permits valid for at least one year, covering the duration of studies; or those with Approval in Principle letters from Citizenship and Immigration Canada; Legal dependents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents (certain conditions apply); Diplomats and their direct dependents; International exchange students. VCC will require proof of citizenship, residency, diplomatic or refugee status. Please see VCC's policy relating to admission for non-citizens and non-residents for more information. |
