VCC is committed to helping internationally educated immigrants who need to upgrade their English language skills to advance in their profession or to take career training programs.
The Professional and Career English Department (PACE) at Vancouver Community College offers ESL courses within a Professional context. There are three main areas of course/program offerings:
- English for Professional Advancement (EPA)
- Courses for Career Preparation and Advancement:English for Health Sciences 1, English for Health Sciences 2, Communications for Engineers and Technologists (CET) and CELBAN preparation course.
- Combined Skills: ESL/Baking, ESL/Culinary, ESL/Health Care Assistant.

Program Description
English for Career Preparation and Advancement has 3 levels. The focus is on language and socio-cultural competencies required for success as a professional in the Canadian workplace. EPA is a flexible, individualized program incorporating seminars in Speaking and Writing, with Reading and Listening offered as online courses. Individual tutorials with an instructor are also available weekly. EPA may be taken full-time or part-time.

Admission Requirements
General
VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.
Exceptions

Convention refugees as designated by the federal government; Foreign live-in caregivers; Individuals with work permits valid for at least one year, covering the duration of studies; or those with Approval in Principle letters from Citizenship and Immigration Canada; Legal dependents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents (certain conditions apply); Diplomats and their direct dependents; International exchange students. VCC will require proof of citizenship, residency, diplomatic or refugee status. Please see VCC's policy relating to admission for non-citizens and non-residents for more information. |

As Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to
educating adult learners, applicants should be 18 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.

Additional Information
Information sessions for EPA are held weekly in Room 235, Downtown campus, Monday at 1pm and Wednesdays at 5pm. Instructors are available to answer questions about the courses and help students apply and register.
