International Students - Refund Policy
International ESL / CPE students who wish to apply for a refund must complete an International ESL / CPE refund request form. This form is available at the VCC International student service office or by email request.
Refund eligibility will be calculated based on the initial or most current ESL / CPE contract period (the number of months for which the students has registered and paid). For example:
- Refund form is received prior to the start of the ESL / CPE contract period: 50 per cent of the full tuition for contract period less a $50 administration fee
- Refund form is received within the first 10 per cent of the ESL / CPE contracted period: 25 per cent of the full tuition for contract period less a $50 administration fee
- Refund form is received after 10 per cent of the ESL / CPE contracted period has passed: No refund
The following fees are non-refundable:
- Application fees
- Part-time program tuition fees
- Term-off deposits
- 50 per cent of total tuition for ESL / CPE contract periods
- Non-refundable deposits for non-ESL or partner school programs
Additional ESL / CPE contracted periods
After completing their initial contract period, students who immediately re-register or commit to an additional study period through the study permit extension or term of request process, will be considered to have entered a new ESL / CPE contract period for the length of time specified. Refund eligibility will then calculated for the new contract period as outlined above.
Pre-paid ESL tuition fees
ESL / CPE students will be refunded prepaid tuition fees if they have successfully completed VCC’s CPE099 class or if they have qualified for another VCC program for which they have met the ESL entrance requirements.
Study permit denials
ESL / CPE applicants whose legitimate study permit application has been denied will be eligible for a full tuition refund less the $50 administration fee provided the student:
- Sends the request for a refund in writing, within one month of the program start date.
- Includes a copy of the letter from the Canadian embassy indicating that their legitimate study permit application has been declined (if applicable).
- Provides written authorization for VCC to issue their refund to a third party, if required.
Refund policy for non-ESL (Career) programs
Non-ESL programs are subject to a different refund policy and payment schedule, which may vary from program to program. The college refund policy can be found at http://www.vcc.ca/deptUploads/policies/D_03_04.pdf
